PHILANTHROPY

The Woman’s Club of Rye’s (WCR) primary goal is to foster interest in and promote charitable activities in the community. All of the philanthropic projects undertaken by the WCR fall under the responsibility of the Committee for Philanthropy and the Committee for Children’s Philanthropy (CP). Learn more about CP by clicking here. Through the members strong connection with the community, these two committees research, develop and present new philanthropic projects to benefit children, women, elderly and others in need in the community.

WCR focuses its energies on education through its High School Scholarship Program. The Crossroads section  focuses on a woman in need each year and supports her through fundraising, and the Children’s Philanthropy section (CP) focuses on children’s programs and needs.  All members are automatically members of the Philanthropic Committee, giving each member the opportunity to present to the board new fundraising ideas and new grant recipients.

The WCR also provides grants to the Rye Recreation Center, Meals on Main Street food pantry, the Carver Center Dinner at Noon, Helping Hands, and the Emergency Medical Services of Rye, Rye Brook and Port Chester.

The WCR and the CP section jointly support Friends of Read Wildlife Sanctuary, Friends of the Rye Nature Center, Friends of Rye Town Park, City of Rye Fire Department, Helping Hands for the Homeless and Hungry, Kid Space, My Sister’s Place, Rye Arts Center, Rye Free Reading Room, Rye Historical Society, Rye Interfaith Housing Corporation, Rye YMCA, Rye Youth Council, Rye Recreation, Rye Senior Citizens Organization, Port Chester-Rye Volunteer Ambulance Corps, Visiting Nurse Services in Westchester, and Wounded Warriors Project.

We are able to support all these wonderful organizations through fundraising projects such as Night at the Opera, Family Portraits, Halloween Bake sale, music concerts, rug sales, boutiques and bridge luncheons not to mention donations from our members and the community.
